quick tranny question

this is a quick drawing of my 97' TSI awd auto tranny.
My question is, which side does the little spacer go on? the torque converter side or the crankshaft side? Thanks in advance.

Re: quick tranny question

Is it a type of gasket/washer or more of a spacer?

i think it is more like a washer/spacer as it is made of metal,
a member on another forum said it might be a spacer on the crank side for alignment of the starter teeth?, im really not sure

Well if you think about it. It really won't adjust the distance of your starter teeth at all no matter which side you put it on. lol...

My guess would be that it goes between the flexplate and crank to give the flexplate clearance of the block.

**EDIT**
It doesn't show which side it goes on in the manual?

Re: quick tranny question

OK, so you all know too, i have found out that, depending on what model of auto they had 1g's had it on the crank side for a spacer . and 2g's have it on the T.C. side for a washer for the crank bolts.
