u mean urs is the gls? is his a gt or es? if its the es, then u guys should be pretty even. u guys both 5sp? u need to give more information...if both are 5sp an if his is an es, then it'll be very even, with it all coming down to driver. if its a gt, then u have ur work cut out for u, an ur gonna have to be a better driver then him. go for it hto, s'all in fun eh?

well mine they both are automatics. and his is a grand am gt. but mine is just a gs. the difference between a gs and a gls is leather and standard alloy rims. thats about it. but he won but not by too much. my front end was at his tire. but he also got a good jump on me. but in about a month ill get a $5000 loan from the bank and im goin to try to get my car port and polished and skunk 2 fuel injectors and custom headers with a full dual exhaust. maybe if i have enough money left over from all of that ill try to get a 100 shot. maybe just maybe..........

Why not use the $5K, as well as the money that you could get from your Olds, and drop that on something new ?

Oh I'm sure it's possible, just not worth your effort. Just get a rear-wheel drive car instead...

As the saying goes - with enough money you could build a bridge to the moon. You’d be better off buying a new car then the expense of converting a FWD to a RWD.

WASTE OF MONEy, say it with me. Won't help all that much. Automatics are usually better for serious drag racing. Their only downfall is they rob the car of a tiny bit more power at the wheels. You can launch just as good if not better with an auto, you never have to worry about misshifting, and the auto tranny can outshift you on the best day of your life. With a shift kit, and higher stall you are set. Spend the money on something else. Hundred other things I would do first before even thinking about swapping out and auto for a manual tranny.

Buy a higher stall torque converter. Shift kits will firm up the shifting and give you a little bit quicker shifts. You really don't need another gear. What you might look into though is a gear set. Perhaps a higher ratio, that will give you harder acceleration. Don't know about a lowering kit...
