Wow - great find! I wonder if the car is here in the USA? Hard to tell from the pics, but that set of images is excellent!

Thanks!

From the looks of the pdf I would guess that it is still in Japan, but I don't know for sure. http://www.symbolicmotors.com/invent...F1/McLaren.pdf

Re: McLaren F1 03

I have a silly question: The third from last photo of the alcantara headliner has a control panel of some sort near the right door opening. Does anyone know what it is? I've never seen that in any other F1 pictures. Then again, I only see ocasional headliner shots.

It's a frequent location used for things like custom fitted radar detectors or possibly additional audio control equipment. I don't recognize the device fitted, but given this car comes from the device capital of the world (Japan) it could be many different things I think. There was nothing placed there originally in the F1s. Not a silly question at all.

Re: McLaren F1 003

I have been told by a reliable source that the car is here in the USA and in Symbolic's posession at this time. Hopefully I can find an opportunity to go see it.

Re: McLaren F1 003

they want $2.5 million for it if sold in the US
and $2.3 if sold outside where it does not need to be federalized.
It is at Symbolic as we speak but will be goign to Texas for federalization soon

BTW - what's with the GTR stickers and that GTR sign on the window?

Despite those, I am really beginning to like this car, ALOT

I can't believe anyone would pay that much. Me thinks they'll sit on the car for a while and then put it up on the auction block getting less than a buyer would've bought beforehand (like #014).

Re: McLaren F1 003

The car has sold and is heading to Texas now, the box in the head liner is like a fast track pass here in California, It talks to you in Japanese. It will remain in the U.S. not sure what state but it will go straight from Texas to the owner.
