Updated problems

So i was driving the grand prix again the other day for old times sake, when im sitting at a stop light and i hear a big "clunk" from under the hood, the engine still ran and drove normally but the tcs light came on and the rpm guage went dead. i had to shut the car off and back on to make i normal again.

Re: Updated problems

It sounds like you either broke a harmonic balancer or the crank sensor.

Re: Updated problems

sounds expensive, i also brought it into my automotive class and they said it needs all new gaskets and seals possibly, not sure about the head gasket though, but wouldnt be surprised. its pretty much leaking all fluids (except brake and washer fluids) but we're keeping up on them for now.

i had the same thing happen to me w/ my first GP i ever owned. it was a 97' SE with the 3800. it did it once, and never did it again. never did figure out what the H it was though...guess it wasnt anything serious huh?

it happened at around 116K and I totally the car w/ a hair over 350K on it...rolled it end over end 4 times avoiding a deer

Re: Updated problems

Re: Updated problems

IF the tach drops to zero just prior to it stalling, then it's definitely the crankshaft position sensor.
