07 Si vs 07 Type S

I had a run in with a 2007 Acura CSX Type S a couple weeks ago. This car is only available in Canada and it is essentially an 8th gen FA5 (civic si sedan) with leather/HIDs etc. I have a 2007 Civic Si with the same engine/transmission as the car Type S, although the Type S does weigh a little bit more.

I was excited because it was the first one I've seen. We were cruising along for a couple of lights before I finally got next to him. I look over to see if he was interested and didn't get any response. Disappointed, I leave the light slowly in first gear just as I hear him rip it to redline in first!

I've already lost about 2 car lengths before I realize what's going on. BTW, my car is dog slow in first gear if I don't launch.. there is absolutely no power until 5800 rpm at the vtec crossover. I stomp on it at about 4k rpm and spin a bit when I hit vtec up to 8200 with a quick shift to 2nd. I could tell he was stock at this time because I flew by him easily. I shift up to 3rd and top it out at 130 km/h before shutting it down with him about 3-4 cars. Afterwards, he cruised behind me at about 60 km/h before he made a turn at the next light.

I have been waiting to race another Si/Type S since I put in all my mods. I'm glad to see it made a noticeable difference and that it wasn't all a "butt dyno" gain.

Not the most exciting story, but I had fun :P

Re: 07 Si vs 07 Type S

Nice race. I have actually been driving my 3000GT for kicks the past few weeks now but I can't get a race in. Although, it is snowy most of the time here, it clears up occasionaly so I can only get a race in about once a week or so when it clears up. Nobody has been biting though lol. Last person to give me a run was an older guy with an early 90's BMW...which was not fast by any stretch of the imagination.

Get some new cams, I want to hear that thing scream. If there is one thing a Honda motor is good for, its the sound of a properly done uncorked VTEC motor.

Good kill, though. Always fun to pull on a stock version of your own car.

Re: 07 Si vs 07 Type S

Yea, I got sick of Toyota not producing anything 'exciting'.

K-pro has been taking a while, but i'll be glad when it comes out. Around the same time i'm planning on upgrading cams, so that should be fun .

But.. until then, i'm stuck with ~200ish whp.
