fuel line replacement
Can i replace my fuel line in my 2000 blazer that is leaking with rubber hose and if so what size are the fuel lines. how can i tell which is the sending and which is the return line. please helpp loosing gas big time...

It can be replaced with a special rubber line, and full circle clamps, not worm gear clamps. The rubber line is marked "High pressure fuel injection" on the hose. That procedure however, is not recomended as a permanent repair. It's best to splice in steel line with compression fittings. The fittings are rated at 170psi, which is more than enough because operating pressure will never exceed 90psi. The pressure line is 3/8" diameter and the return is 5/16".

Thanks for the quick response. I see 3 lines a return, sending and another line is there a way to tell which is which? Blazer starts up ok and does not stall so do you think it is the return line leaking? Leak seems to be comming down from the middle of the gas tank from above along the frame. Should I pry the lines up one by one to see which is the leaker. do i need to relieve the fuel system pressure and how.Can i get the metal/ rubber lines and compression fittings at an auto zone store?Also AC compressor is shot makes a clicking noise can i overide that with an ac bypass pulley to use the same belt or do i need to get a shorter serpentine belt, i dont use the ac anyway. again thanks for your time and help...

The third line is a vapor line and will not leak liquid fuel. That line is 5/16" also. If the engine starts and runs, it's probably the return line that's leaking. If that's the case, the fuel injection rated rubber hose will be fine. Auto parts stores carry it. Make sure it's fuel injection rated line! The lines are held to the frame by plastic brackets, that's probably where it sprouted the leak. Compression fittings are available at most auto parts stores and hardware stores in the plumbing department.
Dorman (part #34175) makes an A/C compressor bypass bracket, and you use the original belt. Most auto parts stores have the bracket, or can get it.

replaced my fuel line it was the feed line 3/8. Now I try to start it and it wont start. I can hear my fuel pump operating. the weather did drop to 8 degrees today from 40 yesterday. dont know how much gas is in it since gauge doesnt work. should i put dry gas and gas in it and try to syart it again???
