02 Trailblazer wiper problem

The windshield wipers on my trailblazer aren't working properly. When you turn them on all the way, they take one swipe and then 'bounce' like they are trying to work. If you turn them off and then back on they take one swipe again. Would this problem be in the multifunction switch, or is there somewhere else I should look?

Thanks in advance,

T

Now, they are just 'bouncing' above the parked position and won't swipe. Hmmmmmmmmm?????

Re: 02 Trailblazer wiper problem

Dunno if it's any help to you, but if you check NHTSA's web site there was a factory recall on the '02 motors for a leak that allowed rainwater to enter and cause malfunctions. It was a free fix at the GM dealer's. Worth a check.

Re: 02 Trailblazer wiper problem

Hi,
I had the same problem with my 02. There is not a recall but Chevrolet is aware of problem and has redesigned wiper unit several times and changed part number several times. You have to replace whole assembly as one unit. It includes wiper linkage (transmissions) and wiper motor to. It will fix your problem but you have to pay for it as it is not under recall. The lastest part number I have is 15878429 which was current as of August 2007 when I purchased mine. It had a suggested retail of $186.28 then. I wish I had better news but I tried everything and this was only option.

Re: 02 Trailblazer wiper problem

Sorry I didn't give you'all the specifics earlier. The wiper motor leakage problem became NHTSA Recall # 04V-046, GM Recall # 04005. Per GM Notice to Dealers DC81224, dated 7/6/04, dealers were authorized to repair/replace as much of the module and associated assembly as necessary to fix the problem. These documents may be accessed on NHTSA's web site.
