2001 Villager AntiKnock Sensor

I have thrown a bad anti-knock sensor code in the computer, and the part cost $117. This is painful, and I have sensed in past threads that this is not an important sensor. Is it possible that the sensor is still good, but maybe I can run a higher octane fuel to reduce the knocking and have the sensor reset? I had a local auto parts store clear the code, but within 10 minutes of driving, it came back. What should I do?

Thanks for any advise that you can provide!

Like you stated the knock sensor rarely fails, usually another code is set with it.
Check oxygen sensors

Re: 2001 Villager AntiKnock Sensor

Tempfixit, thanks for the reply! There was another code, but it was for a sensor that this particular auto parts store did not carry. I will have the codes reread and see if anything else is thrown.

This van has 108,000 miles, and I replaced timing belt, plugs, cap and rotor at 103,000. I didn't replace wires.

The link you posted doesn't work, I even tried cutting and pasting.

Thanks again for the reply!

Always remember that a code does not mean that a sensor is bad, it is a intication as where you start diagnosing.
