What is the best way to stop people from stealing cars?

I have been thinking a lot lately about how my junk bucket Minivan (with all my music equipment in the back) was stolen out fro0nt of my house inToronto last summer - arrghh.

How can we stop car theft once and for all? There must be some technological advance that will stop theives in their tracks - I hear that in South Africa they have electrocution boobytraps and devices in place to prvent car theft - I even herad flame thrower.

What if there was an AFFORDABLE easy to use GPS chip tracking service that somehow knew when your car was being stoilen - ie hotwired and called the cops while you slept in bed - thats what I needed on Aug 19th 2007 when theives my kit.

Patented in South Africa, I believe this is what you're after.

You can hire my cat, he's a pretty good shot.

EDIT: not as funny since I no longer have the sniper kitty avatar.

Re: What is the best way to stop people from stealing cars?

There are numerous ways to stop your car being stolen dude.

Window tint (stops glass from shattering), engine immobilisers (did I spell that right?) and steering wheel locks, not to mention loud, annoying-as-fuck alarms.

Chipped keys, large dogs, park in a garage if you have one, or hide on the porch with a shotgun and blast the bastards.

Don't own anything, can't steal what isn't there. Radical, but effective.

Apparently designed not to damage the paint.

You know something's wrong with a place when the police recommend you fit these things to your car :/

Re: What is the best way to stop people from stealing cars?

The simple way to prevent is to remove thieves.

Like what they did in Hot Fuzz.
