4l. ford aerostar heat prob..

Hi , I have a ford Aerostar 97 with heat prob.we changed both head gasket they were leaking from the outside ,cause when I've bought this car the rad. was plug up from old antefreeze and durty this car had only 5800m when I've bought it .And I went to a rad. place and they changed antefreeze and cleaned the rad.but I don't have much heat only when I accelerate fast it get more hot and we replaced the thermostat but same thing, and seem like the thermostat when the car is hot it open and close and open and close not shure if suppose to be always open when hot ,but now I'm thinking maybe there's a bad or poor circulation in the rad.I'm thinking to change the rad maybe .Need help please.Thank you

Re: 4l. ford aerostar heat prob..

sounds like an air pocket in the cooling system. When you accelerate the water pump spins faster and coolant gets into the air pocket which (if i'm correct) is in your heater core. A lot of times the heater core is near the highest point and an air pocket forms there when you fill the cooling system.

Re: 4l. ford aerostar heat prob..

I am having close to the same problem with my 97 Aerostar. The heat comes in waves and the blower seems weak. The rear heat never gets warm, just blows cold air but atleast it has a stronger fan.
