2000 Jimmy...wont start
I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy 4.3....The issue is it will not start, engine does crank over, I did change the rotor...still wont start...I do have spark out of the coil and out of the spark plug wire. I do hear the fuel pump running when I turn the key on, I even poured some gas in the throttle body...with no luck...I guess I'm down to ignition control module or my timing is off. The truck up to now has been running great...does anyone have any IDEAS

Re: 2000 Jimmy...wont start
Test your fuel system pressure. There's a test connector port on the fuel rail near the firewall. With key on, the fuel pump should provide at least 60 psi and be able to hold it. Low pressure may be a sign of a bad fuel regulator. Dropping pressure is a sign of a failing fuel pump return valve. If you have lots of miles on your truck, changing the fuel filter might be a good idea too.
Timing can be easily checked using a timing light, but relies on crankshaft, IAT, and other various sensors to determine the correct advance. Failure of those sensors should cause a code to be stored in the ECM, but may not illuminate the SES light. Hook up a OBD code test tool to read any stored codes.

Re: 2000 Jimmy...wont start
Are you getting spark from all six of your spark plugs? Sounds like an ignition problem if you poured some gasoline down the intake and got nothing.

Re: 2000 Jimmy...wont start
one nice thing about the ICM, is that it is the same on many chevy's. it is even interchangeable between v6's and v8's. O'reilys auto parts can test them, but their system sucks.
the best way to test it is to swap it with a known good and see what happens. i know my 2001 blazer has the same ICM as a 96 LT1 trans am, so i would assume that 96-early 2000's are the same. you can also cross check the part number at autozone to be sure.
