Radiator hoses leaking

My 98 GST both upper and lower radiator hoses are leaking where they connect to the engine. Whats the best way to stop this? I cleaned the all the gunk around both hoses that connect to the engine, I really need a solution that will last another week until new hoses come. Also the radiator fluid was bubbling and smoking last night spewing everywhere, Im not sure if this is a bigger problem or its just cause the hoses are leaking and everything was hot, the car though did not overheat the temp gauge read normal.

Re: Radiator hoses leaking

I think your clamps are not tighten ing anymore. I would recommend replacing those right away.

Re: Radiator hoses leaking

but both of them at once it just doesn't make too much sense. Its lucky its just rad fluid your losing and can easily be topper off. The clamps are easy to replace if that works thats great. I mean theres not a lot of sophistication around the hoses they just transfer the rad fluid back and forth from the radiator. Any heat resistant tube and clamp will work for them. Just be use your ingenuities clean around where the hoses connect so it forms a good seal then use whatever you need to tighten them down (t bolt clamps if you have to).

Re: Radiator hoses leaking

A common cause for leaky radiator hoses is corrosion on the aluminum pipes the hoses connect to. You can clean it up with some sand paper or emery cloth. If it's real bad you can just replace them. The water neck is only like 30 bucks IIRC, and you can replace the tstat while you're in there. The large water pipe for the lower hose is a little more trouble and a lot more money, so hoepfully that one cleans up well (it always does).
