BMW door lock problems

[89-325is]

I just bought a BMW 325is. it is a 1989 in pretty good shape. I tried to lock the door on the drivers side and all of the other doors locked except for the dirvers side door.

It wont even lock if i push down on it.

Also when i try to open the locks i have to try it a few times before the passneger side door will open.

What can is the problem and what can i do to fix it?

check the door latch (the one on the frame) that the door latches to to close. Behind the latch is a microswitch which tells the car if the door is closed or not. After a few years of wear and tear, these switces can tend to go bad. Happened on my car (e36 325i). its about a 20 min. job to replace once you order the part. Could'nt quote you on the price though beacuse I live in holland (19.5 % sales tax here!!!!)
