HVAC light out

I have a 2005 1500 with the digital heating/cooling controls and the light for the front defog is out, not the yellow dot but the white back lighting...is this hard to fix? How do I go about it?
Thanks,
Sonny01

Re: HVAC light out

not sure if the lights can be replaced, some people have done it in the manual controls, but not sure for the automatic ones. try doing a search for it and see what comes up. or you could just buy a new control head. is a breeze to install, but may need a good scan tool to run a 5 minute calibration.

Re: HVAC light out

I called the dealer and was told that the bulbs can't be changed...it goes in tomorrow AM to have the control head replaced.

Re: HVAC light out

Yes it's still under warrantee...if it was simple I would have fixed the light but they said it takes two hours to swap units. I pulled the bezel off the dash so it should be real easy for the mech to pull the old out and stick the new in...they said also there wasn't a need to mess with the PCM.
No loaner...I have to wait on it :-(

Re: HVAC light out

dealer says bulbs can't be changed because they won't do it. this would have been a self repair. they don't have to mess with the PCM, but they may need to hook up the tech2 and do a mode/temp door recalibrate....takes less than 5 minutes. but, since it is under warranty, let them deal with it, glad it was covered still!
