Re: bearing

You didn't say what year car. If you have a 62-67 you can get a lower bearing from Moss Motors. See item 26 in this Moss plate.

If your car is a 68 or later car there are no known sources for bearings. Gerry at GEM Enterprises make bushings to repair steering columns. If you have a rubber bumper car I believe you will need to send him your column. I have not used his products but he has an excellent reputation based on comments from users of his steering repairs/parts.

If this is the case, wouldnt a local machine shop be able to do this?
I work on some prety strange stuff and our local machine shop just loves to see me come in the door. I give them a challange quite often.

Re: bearing

A machine shop may be able to repair it. If your car is a 68 or later it has a collapsible steering column. If keeping the collapsible feature is important to you the machine shop may not understand what to do. Machine shops in my area would charge more than getting it done by Gerry.
