Test for power to fuel pump 2001 Astro??

Can anyone tell me how I can test for electricity to my fuel pump? I'm pretty sure the pump is faulty, but before shelling out big $$$ I wanted to make sure that it wasn't some electrical problem. I dropped the tank down and disconnected the large 7 lead connector that powers everything - ground is good. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump relay under the hood click over. I would like to know what leads I should check in the connector to make sure power is sending to the pump. Any help would be great.

You already know the pump is seeing voltage- you stated you can hear it run... a better way is to look at amp draw-- put your VOM in series with the fuel pump primer lead and see how many amps are being pulled-- also good to know- and the primary decision maker is the fuel pressure-- measure with a gauge the test port on the fuel rail-- if pressure is low- you either have a leak or a worn out fuel pump

It's very common to have the electrical connectors in the pump unit (not the pump itself) begin to fail and cause a reduced voltage at the pump motor. This is a very common problem, and is frequently overlooked, or misdiagnosed as a failing pump. This is also one reason that the pump alone is not usually offered as a replacement part, since replacing to pump does not solve this problem.

Hearing the relay click is the first step. At the fuel pump module connector, the 2 black wires must show less than 5 ohms resistance to ground. The grey wire should show battery voltage for 2 to 3 seconds after the ignition is turned to the RUN position, and continously when the ignition is in the START position.

Thanks guys for the tips. Old Master, the ohms checked out so I replaced the pump.
