Re: strech metal

Before i answer this, id like a bit more clarification... what type of body line are you talkin about? and what is the purpose of shrinking or stretching? Are you trying to remove the body line as a way of smoothing out the body panel?

Re: strech metal

Are you trying to smooth out body lines? OK shave moldings? Are you trying to gain a slight fender flare? I have seen small fender flares/IE "pulling a fender" done, but if you are trying to shave anything, that's not the way to do it. Post up what you are wanting to do.

Re: strech metal

Body lines are pressed into the steel from the manufacture to add shapes, features, and to provide additional strength to the panel. The stamped body lines create tention on the steel, which work hardens the metal. Therefore, the body lines are the strongest points of the panel. It takes more impact to cause damage on body lines;however, once damaged, it will make the repair more difficult as well.

With that said, metal on a body lines or any other part of the panel may be streched during a collision. The streched metal must be shrunk to its original (pre-accidental) state. If not, the metal will be weaker than it should.
