Are these O2 sensors good?

Ok, I went to the junkyard today and I got these downstreal O2 sensors from 2 different cars. Do they look any good, Are they worth the effort of trying them onto my car? What is a good solution I can dip them in to get them clean? So when they're clean I can snap more pictures and see if they work.

One on the left is from a 95 Eclipse 420A NT. The one on the left is from a 97 Eclipse 420A NT.

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

Yeah, because I can tell how well it works by looking at one blurry picture.

I think if you need a new o2 sensor you should buy a new one. Is that something you can test with a multimeter?

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

I believe you can test them to see if they work but you cant tell how good. Why didn't you just buy a new one, all that sensor does is tell the
ECU if the cat is working or not. It cant be that expensive new.

On the other hand I do have one out of my car that I know worked. The plug has been cut off but thats not a big deal.

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

Its 80 bucks! Thats a lot more than the five finger discount I got these 2 from. What can I clean them with? Or how do I go about testing them Jay? Multimeter?

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

You would have to look it up. Like I said you can only test for continuity, not if its actually working properly. But this sensor is pretty much pointless so it should be fine.

the correct way to test an o2 is to make your car rich with propane and make sure it goes to passed .9v and make it lean and see if it goes lower .175v if it doesnt go passed those it is considered biased. then the only real way to test if it is functioning correctly is to have a Oscilliscope and do a "snap test" and record it, which basically is when you make it rich with like propane and then remove it and wait for it to switch to lean then snap the throttle and record the switch from lean to rich and make sure its under 100ms switching time. well this is the procedure for the first o2. the rear is only used to make sure that the front and rear do not match up. if they do the efficiency of the cat is bad. the cat is there to reduce emissions and should put out a steaady oxygen reading thats why the rear and the front wont match up. since the front is constantly changing. so even if those o2 sensors are "lazy" on switching it wont matter since all it checks for is that it doesnt match up. so you can put it and it wouldnt make a difference if the o2 was dead. i hope that makes sense

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

Um... ya...

Ok so this thread was pissing me off. The rear O2 does nothing. All it does is throw a CEL if it's not there or if it's not working. So you got a couple for nothing or whatever and trying to test them. Install one and get it over with. If CEL comes on, then there's an issue. I would never buy a new rear O2. Pointless IMO since they do nothing. Front O2 is another story. So install that bitch and get it over with.

dude chill some people actually like there cars to run good, and stock, just like my spyder i have. that is completely stock and have bought a rear o2 for emissions reasons in california. so does that make me stupid? no. other people have different reasons. and i also quoted that it wont really matter if it didnt work good, as long as its there. and there is also other people that do have a DSO and volt meter and want to know a way to check the sensor.

Ok this was a little off the deep end. The rear O2 has nothing to do with making the car run good. It doesn't affect a SINGLE piece of performance. I have emissions here in IL. I have a fully functional rear O2. But, I got one from the junkyard for a couple bucks instead of paying $80+ for it. No CELS or anything since I got it. And the only reason I got it was because I got a new exhaust and the old one wouldn't come out.

Thread was getting me angry because the original poster shows a pic of 2 O2 sensors and asks if they're good. No offense to Joe, we cool and all, but that was kinda pointless. Asking for opinions on spark plug wear or something makes a little more sense, but not sensors. Sure he can test them out and make sure they work or he can install them and see what happens. Again, since there's going to be no change in performance, it doesn't matter. If it's bad, he'll get a CEL, if not, then there's nothing to bitch about.

Re: Are these O2 sensors good?

Come on guys no reasons to argue over a rear o2 sensor. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Joe's question has been answered, no reason to keep this thread open.

Closed.
