Strange Transmission problem -98 3.0

I have problem with that when i switch from park to drive it feel like the trans swith to drive but when i hit the trottle the enginge just revs the same is for revers and 1st but if i put in 2 it will work and if i switch to D after that the car start moving the trans work normal until i stop nex time.

The other thing i can do s to rev the enginge up to aprox 3-4000 rpm in Park, Rev, D ,2 or 1 and it start working again.

The Transmission Range Sensor, aka Neutral Safety switch, is a common source of problem.
It is also about the cheapest and easiest thing to address.
Beyond that and possibly a fluid and filter change, it would be best to have a good transmission technician check it out.
