No AM reception on radio

Hi

I have a 2002 passat 1.9tdi sport. I cannot get reception on AM band on the radio. The FM band works fine. Does anybody know how to fix this ?

it is possable that it is the antena on top the roof but most likly its the cable wich runs above the headliner. If so, when you turn on your blinkers while on an am station, you will here the clicking in your speakers.

I have heard that the powered antenna amplifier can malfunction and hurt AM more than FM. This may be your problem. Check the rubber seal around the base of the antenna, if it allows water to get in through a crack, or is otherwise not making a good seal, that can corrode the PC board inside.
