Smile keyless entry

I know there are many posts concerning this but I am new to this so I am at a loss. I just bought a 99 Chevy blazer for my daughter and it came with 2 remotes that do not work. I tried the batteries, I tried to program them with what I have seen online.....hold down the lock button, turn the key on, off, on, off and the dorrs will lock and unlock. The next step was to hold both the buttons on the remotes.......this doesn't work. I bought another remote thinking the 2 were bad....this one doesn't work. Someone told me to look in the glove box for a code.....AUO and it does have that. Now I am at a loss......can someone out there help?

Re: Keyless Entry receiver

I don't know if that is the problem but if the reciever needs to be reprogrammed for it to work, I would say yes.

Re: keyless entry

I looked thru the Service info and you'll need a scan tool to diagnose the RKE. Looks like you'll also need it to program it.

Check to see if you have any DTC's at your local autoparts.

Re: keyless entry

you lost me....

What is a RKE and what is the DTC? Where is the receiver located in a blazer?

Re: keyless entry

make sure the two remotes will work with that vehicle. call your local chevy dealer with the trucks VIN # to confirm that you have the correct remotes. also when you program the remotes, all doors need to be closed.

Re: keyless entry

I appreciate this response. The remotes are the correct ones, the doors were closed while reprogramming. With this being said, they still don't work. I am trying now to find out how to locate the receiver in the vehicle and to test it.
