Tail lights not turning off

Last night when i came home, i locked the car with the key fob and the car locked, the headlights went off after the appropriate time but the tail lights, more appropriately, the brake lights didn't go off. I know its the brake lights because the upper brake light above the back window was lit up.

I got back in, pumped the brakes, checked the headlight switch, checked the gear shift and locked it again. Still wouldn't go off.

Any suggestions??

Check the stop lite switch for being stuck , un plug it see what happens.
