Angry 99 GTP tranny issue

OK a few days ago, my ABS light came on with the TCS also. I know it could be a hub etc etc.....but it was happening occasionally and was going to take it to the shop this weekend.
NOW yesterday I drove the car to work and then for some errands and when I got home I was going to turn around and put it into reverse (no problems) but then I went to put it in drive and I didn't have it...or LOW1...only when I went to LOW2 could I move. The RPM's rev, but it never catches. It never engages the transmission.
Are these 2 things related? There was no noises, no slipping, no warning sign at all. I don't get it.
Any ideas? I am going to have to have it towed, but was wondering if you have any educated guesses.
1999 GTP O/D 4T60E trans with 110K miles. regularly maintained and was running great.

Re: 99 GTP tranny issue

When you say your TCS came on, was it your SES light? When you get your car towed, you should try to have the tranny scanned to see if any trans codes are coming up. I doubt this is related to your ABS, but the TCS may have something to do with it. I would start with getting the trans and engine (if SES) scanned since it ran good before this.

Have you changed the trans filter and fluid at all?

Lastly, you should have the 4t65e-hd transmission with the GTP.

Good luck.

Re: 99 GTP tranny issue

You're right about the tranny. My bad. And I did mean the ABS/TCS light. I thought it was the typical issues I read on here, but then when the tranny went out, I thought maybe these are inter-related.
I am going to have it scanned today...I will post the results.

Re: 99 GTP tranny issue

OK, well I just got the call and they said it did throw a 1811 code and he said one other, but said the converter was bad and another piece (nothing major). They opened it up and said there was mechanical damage and it was going to cost $2400. That seemed high to me, but I might just be cheap. I was thinking around half of that. This place, allegedly, has a good rep but i am a little curious now.

Re: 99 GTP tranny issue

Sorry, forgot all about getting back on here......had the whole tranny rebuilt. Expensive, but no more issues.
