Oil change issues
Why - when I drain the engine oil does the trans fluid just seem dissappear?
I drained and replaced the engine oil and the car didn't want to go when I put it in drive. I checked the trans fluid it was almost gone. I added trans fluid until it read full. The car sort of ran - but after work when I got home the car would not go in reverse. Nuetral actually drove forward even just at an idle. What do I do? |

Re: Oil change issues
Are you sure you drained the oil and not the transmission? If you have never done this before, looking under there could be confusing. And if the tranny fluid was old enough, it can even look brown like oil when it is draining.
It definitely helps if you tell us what year and engine type you have.

Re: Oil change issues
check your engine oil dipstick. is the oil a clean light brown? if not, or if it is really overfilled, you drained the wrong oil.

What do I do? Make sure you include the model year and type engine in any engine related posts. We can then use this info to give you accurrate info. So... send us your model year and engine size.
