Lightest Gutted Hondas.
Ive been wondering what the lightest 4th gen civic hatchback, crx, and 4-door sedan weights are for a while and recently started looking it up. The lightest Ive seen was a gutted 86' crx which weighed just under 1600lbs on some drag racing website. I havnt been able to find as much info on the civic hatchback or 4-door as I thought I would though. I was wondering If there was a list of the lightest civics somewhere. I am especially interested in the 4-door civics.
What are the lightest civics you guys know of? |

Re: Lightest Gutted Hondas.
The 86 was actually a 3rd gen civic.
The lightest in each year is the crx hf, and the years go from 88-91 in order of weight. So if your looking for the lightest 4th gen you want an 88 crx hf. I believe that guy comes in somewhere around 1819 lbs. The lightests hatchback will be the std, which came with a 4spd. And the 4 door would be the dx I believe.

Re: Lightest Gutted Hondas.
Frodo is correct. The 1G/3G Crx/Civic's were a lot lighter than the 2G/4G. I have my 91 hatch down to a little over 2000 without me in it, but all I have done is remove all of the interior except for the 2 front seats and dash.
I also have a 1G Crx that might end up weighing 1500 when it gets done. This little car is going to be insane.

Re: Lightest Gutted Hondas.
Theres a guy with an 85 hf with an si engine in it where I autocross..hes got 8 1/2 r comp slicks..wins every damn time. Its stripped down to nothing but a seat, a steering wheel with tach attached to the column, and an ecu attached to the floor.

Re: Lightest Gutted Hondas.
I've got less than that in mine. The only thing stock still in it is the brake lines and suspension. Its got a z6 sitting in it with the wire harness stripped down to a minimum, getting an aluminum fuel cell(no stock tank or lines), and an aluminum seat. There is no sound deadening inside of it and if I could, I was take all of it off the bottom of the car too, but I don't have that much time.

Re: Lightest Gutted Hondas.
Yeah, this guy is running some outrageously stiff springs and koni yellows too.. One time he was like "man that corner is pretty tricky. I had to let off on that one" We all just stared at him..
