Possible Motor Mounts??

Have a 95 Intrepid with 138K miles trans works/shifts fine but, studders going from one gear to another upon slow/hard acceleration and down shifts is when this happends, on the highways it rides fine. if it's the motor mounts is it expensive to fix? or is it something else? Thanks.....

Re: Possible Motor Mounts??

Most likely the transmission mount is bad, it's a captive mount but it will let the engine rock forward and backward a fair amount. I never heard much about or expierienced engine mounts going on LH vehicles.

to repair and get the thrill back than a pissed off girlfriend.

Hey thanks for the reply hope its not too expensive to fix though i was told the other day it was probably the transmission mount being bad and you just reconfirmed that thanks again was going to sell the car and had 20 or so calls but i wouldn't sell it like that will have to get it fixed first thanks again .....

Re: Possible Motor Mounts??

Hi,

I am having the same problem, and it turns out it was my motor/trans mounts as well.

My mechanic told me it would be around $500 total for all three, installed. The motor mounts are around $90 (about $45 each) and the trans mount is around $80, the rest is labor.

Not sure how difficult it is to change them out, I have done this on older card but not on front wheel drive cars so it may be more involved, someone else may be able to elaborate.

You can probably get the parts yourself cheaper and have a good mechanic put them on for you.

I found all three mounts on e-bay for $40 shipped, brand new. So I got a super deal.

If you want to know what they look like, go here:

The 3.3L and the 3.5L mounts are the same.

Hope this helps,
Mark
