in order to get it to come apart i heard you can do a freezing trick that will do that by i think running it under water for a couple minutes and sticking it in the freezer overnight (make sure you have it in a zip lock so you dont lose the small parts!)

Re: Rebuilding Model

isn't it a lot easier to buy a new one? Or is it already a rare kit?

Have you seen one lately? :-)
These are very rare. And quite pricey too.

You can disassemble the model, then strip it, and re-do it. What glue did you use to put it together?

You have it backwards, the Cobra has the "engine" (engine pieces that assemble on top of the chassis bottom w/integral engine/oil pan), the standard Mustang is curbside only. The Mustang itself is unique in that it's an export version of the car (even having separate fender flares), and features the very rare (in 1:1) removable hardtop.

Tamiya's Mustangs are less accurate than either Monogram/Revell or AMT. The Cobra has many inaccuracies (engine, chassis, interior). Though it builds up as a decent looking curbside. Tamiya Mustangs are among their worst efforts at being replicas.

Re: Rebuilding Model

There are 2 mustang kits at this shop. The mustang GT and the mustang cobra R. Is it one of those 2 you seek?

Re: Rebuilding Model

You can get super glue debonder from a hobby store. (assuming you're talking about CA super glue)

Debonder will dissolve plastic! Superglue is quite brittle, you can try to pry some parts and see if they will come off. Most stubborn parts could be put in water, then into freezer. Once they are frozen solid, you could try to break the glue joint.
