Cool BingoSports has something very exciting for sale - the last of its kind actually

A friend from 6speedonline who goes by the username Phoenix passed me a link to the BingoSports website which now has this very impressive McLaren F1 GTR for sale.

As I told him - this thing looks to be immaculate and this would be a great week to win the lottery as my bank account is lacking the necessary funds to make the purchase right now.

We've previously narrowed this one down to GTR #28R, formerly seen at Light Auto 1 in Japan, but never officially listed for sale through them that I can recall.

Here's a link to the BingoSports sales page with photos and another link to a page with three additional photos. Unfortunately there is no clear shot of the chassis number, but I am fairly convinced that we are correct here in calling it #28R. I tried translating the text, but it doesn't seem to offer any real detail on the car, just general comments about how rare and how great this one is.

BingoSports also have a CLK GTR road version as you can see from the above shot as well as a white Koenigsegg CCX for sale right now. It would be a prime time to pay them a visit if I were a little bit closer. Unfortunately I'm not quite close enough, and my old roommate has no plans to be in Japan this week so hopefully we'll get more details and images through other sources.

If you know anyone looking to purchase a GTR, this one looks to be just about perfect. While "perfect" looks good, I am hopeful it ends up in the hands of someone who's willing to get it a little dirty.

Tells me that it is probably stored dry and therefore unlikely to see any use until someone preps it.

Are you sure you aren't confusing this with the car's time at Light Auto 1?

The BingoSports listing is marked as 'NEW' and is dated 1/25/2008 on the main page of their site. I check there from time to time and had not seen this one on their site until Phoenix sent me the link.

Also, in looking at the listings of some of the other cars that can be seen in the background of photos of the GTR, I did not see it in the background of any of those shots implying to me that it was their most recent arrival.

Hmm, I guess it isn't there very long. I've checked their sites a couple times in the last month. So maybe it just seems long ago

Hi,

very interesting again Erik and your friend.

Do you know the price and kilometers ? Maybe, someone can talk to Carbuilder, for me, I have not an answer to my MP.

You have to inquire directly with BingoSports for the price as it is not listed in the add - it just says "ASK". From past experience they are not receptive to emails.

As for the number of kilometers, a racing car of this type is unlikely to have a traditional odometer.

I don't know if you've allready seen it, but there is a BBLM for sale and the miles in the add say "44 hours". I loved that

That car is absolutely fantastic as it is - out of interest would it need many modifications to make it a road usable car? I presume the suspension would need adjusting but it would make an awsome road car!

Anybody got any idea what the asking price will be/is - I suppose at a guess its got to be between £800,000 - £1.2 million?

Re: BingoSports has something very exciting for sale - the last of its kind actually

I think he's just asking what our own estimates might be. In my case, I could see this car easily being somewhere in the $2 Million USD range. That may seem like a low estimate for a car in this condition, but GTRs have generally commanded lower prices in the past compared to road cars.

While this is almost certainly the last GTR built which should help it's value in my opinion, it is one of 4 longtails that never raced in the 24 Hrs of LeMans - the premier race for this type of car in that era, so I think that hurts the value a bit. Also, when looking at the race history that #28R does have, its not terribly impressive compared to other McLarens. Eight starts in the FIA GT series of 1997 resulted in a best placed finish of 6th twice, one 7th place, one 8th place, one 10th place and a three DNFs. I think that if the list of finishing places were better that would help the car's value a bit more.

Still, it is hard to argue against a car that appears to be factory fresh in almost every single way. Additionally with the advent of the GT90s Series giving cars from that era a fresh chance at getting on track, I think that values will begin to increase. Before, a car like this was only good for private track days and the occasional run up the hill at Goodwood.

As for converting this one for road use, I just don't see that happening. There were claims surrounding #27R that it had been or would be converted, but I am skeptical of that being a possibility. Someone else once mentioned that good race cars don't always translate well into good road cars and I think that it would be a challenge to drive this car on the street, even with significant changes that would allow for it to happen.
