Question Climate Control

I have an 01 Intrigue with the 3.5 engine. The auto climate control stopped working; could not select auto, econo, or off. Also could not set temp; stays at 24 degrees celcius. Stays like that for a while and then can turn off, select econo, and auto but still not able to set temp. The manual portion still works. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Re: Climate Control

Does the tempperature remain constant? the reason i ask is many of the automatic controls depend on the outside temperature. You could have a bad temperature sensor which is located on the radiator in front of the car. those are easy to fix on your own.

Re: Climate Control

Its part #10248414 Ambient Temperature Sensor for when the dealer parts desk guy cant find it.

Should be about 10-15 bucks, but they may not have them in stock, I had to wait a few days for mine.

But you should only need to replace that, as dtown said, if your external temperature reading is staying the same all the time, or if it is inaccurate.

Re: Climate Control

It reads the outside temp ok. It is the inside temp that will not adjust. After awhile the off, auto and econo will work but not the temp adjust.

Re: Climate Control

That actually sounds like the HVAC controller is going bad. Just look on ebay for the automatic climate control unit. Usually they go for about $25 (new I think they're near $900).
