i took my car to the mechanic to have my ecu reprogrammed.
he said it would not work. Then he said he think he blew a fuse. I got my beetle back and the windows will not roll up and the electronic mirrors do not work either. Does anyone know what fuse that is that controls that? |

Re: 01 beetle power windows power mirrors stop working?
There is a fuse for this circuit in the fuse panel at the drivers' end of the dash board - its number 5. Also a 30amp fuse at the top of the fuse/relay panel near the base of the steering column. Either will stop the windows.
Think I'd find another mechanic! Good Luck. |

Re: 01 beetle power windows power mirrors stop working?
well I checked all the fuses in by the driver door dash box. They look good. I checked under my steering wheel and I see a giant fuse missing in the 30a bottom section. That is the only one missing.
I wonder if thats it. I think I will call the auto parts and try to buy one. there was a tiny green 30 fuse at the bottom there and two 15 tiny fuse at the top that are good still. |

Re: 01 beetle power windows power mirrors stop working?
I called the auto parts store to buy another 30a relay fuse so I can get my power windows power mirrors working again but they said I need the numbers on the relay to get a new one.
I said it was taken and they said call the dealer. The dealer put me on hold last time for 2 hours. Does anyone know that part number on that relay or fuse in the 30a marked spot on the lowest section of the fuse relay box under the steering wheel? |

Re: 01 beetle power windows power mirrors stop working?
G'Day Bratt, sorry I cannot help you with fuse numbers - but why not get the old fuse and solder some fuse wire to bridge the fuse (like we did in the old days).
You sound like a handy sort of bloke so really you shouldn't be getting a mechanic to fix your car when you can do it yourself. |

Re: 01 beetle power windows power mirrors stop working?
Sorry mate but I cannot help you with the type or number of that 30A fuse - my manual doesn't list it as it only lists fuses that are on the fuse panel and this one sits on top of the relay panel.
Good Luck. |
