Screwed Up Dashlights

So here is my issue, I hadn't experienced this before so now I need help. My 95 explorer, when the lights are off the 4WD and O/D lights will show but as soon as ya turn the headlights on and the dashlights come on the 4WD and O/D lights won't show. And yes I've played with dimming the dashlights the whole way down and tried with just parking lights but its when the dashlights are on the the 4WD and O/D dashlights wont light. So if anyone here has any idea on why this is doing this tell me . Thank ya'll!
