Question About intercooler?

I was j/w if there is any possible way of having an intercooler instead of a CAI or a ram intake on my G2

I have an HCI mag with an Integra with a JDM B16a and he has exactly that. I don't know what kind of gains, if any, you'd get but he used a 99 SLK320
Mercedes Kompressor intercooler w/ an air cone on the end so yea it's possible.

do you know the purpose of an intercooler?
It will do nothing to ambient air charge temps, and possibly cause more restriction=poorer performance. why do you want to spend so much on an intake?

no I don't know the purpose of an intercooler, I have a good idea what it might do. Alll I want to know is if I can put one on a non turbo teg and what kind of gains can i get from it.
Thank in advance.

you will gain nothing. if fact you will lose hp from the restrictions of the bar/plate (most common type of ic) and the extra piping the air will have to travel through.

an intercooler is used on a forced induction engine where air is compressed (turbo/supercharger), to cool down the air chage temperatures. when air is compressed from it original 14.7psi ambient pressure its temperature greatly increases to dangerous levels which can lead to detonation.
Think of it this way, its like a radiator for the heated air. the cool air thats flows through the intercooler fins as the car is running cools down the air going through the plates from side to side. (air doesnt flow throught the front... there wont be a raim air effect if thats what you were thinking). oh yeah, and all intercoolers are made of aluminum, one of the best conductors. this helps dissapate more of the heat.

heres a few pics to help you understand better

front..where the cool outside air flows as the car is coasting

sideview...this is the path of the compressed, heated air coming directly from the turbo/supercharger. it goes from one side right through the other.

btw, this is not mine

ok thanx for that well I wasn't going to get an intercooler for my teg.
My buddy wanted to put an intercooler on his N/A 2000 GS-R so i just wanted to hear what you guys had to say to that bc I knew that it's not good to put an intercooler on N/A cars.
