Wet Distributer

Living in Michigan it's pretty common for are winter to go from 10 degrees to 40 in 1 day. This causes alot of condensation in the garage.

I let the Metro sit for 4 days and when I went to leave for work, it would just crank and crank with a HINT of wanting to fire. So I immediately pulled the distributer cap and wiped it down really good. Hooked it back up and she was purring like a kitten again.

Just thought I'd pass this info on for anyone that might have the condensation problem like I do from time to time.

Re: Wet Distributer

If this is a problem......You may want to replace your distributor cap with a new one! Moisture should not be getting inside the cap. Otherwise, Get an old piece of Carpet etc..., Large enough to cover the underside of your Metro, Then put it down on the floor of the Garage where you park your car. This will keep the moisture from the concrete from seeping up and into your engine bay area while the car is parked. This is also a good practice when storing the car in the garage for long periods of time......And exactly the reason I layed down 2 layers of thick industrial grade plastic on the gravel base for the new garage I just built, then poured the concrete floor over the plastic. It prevents moisture from seeping up thru the concreate and rusting the underside of my "Garage Queen" Cars. (My Toys).

Re: Wet Distributer

Starting fluid works good for drying out a rotor cap, but make sure it dries completely, before trying to start it again. By the time you twist down the screws, it will be plenty dry. Like GM Line Rat says, the cap is most likely bad, because these caps mount pretty precisely and shouldn't let any moisture in.
