Brake Pads
It's time to change pads on my newly acquired '97 328i.
Currently stock pads & rotors - fine but very dusty. What do you like in pads for normal (ok - aggressive) street use? Any experience on Mintex vs. Pagid? I'm pretty confident on changing them myself, though I haven't done it before. Any good source for instrutions on bleeding brakes without a power bleeder? How about rotors? How do I know when they're too thin and need to be changed? Are all the brands of (non drilled) rotors pretty much the same? Thanks. |

use axxis ultimate brake pads...very good. low dust.
this is for street and track. highly recommended i have a set also! use euro floaters rotors up front...it's a two piece. it helps disipate heat better than US rotors. btw u can get them at pacific bmw. around 100`

You can't beat Brembo rotors for the long haul. I am quite confident that Pagid are the OEM, and the fade in articles I have read is horrid. Go for Brembo rotors, I have seen the best results from the cross-drilled ones.

I understand that cross-drilled rotors will dissipate heat better in extreme conditions, but it seems to me that the loss in surface area and in strength wouldn't be a good tradeoff for normal driving.
Any well-founded opinions? |
