93 with blower problems

A few months ago I had to replace the resistor as well. Mine only ran on the high speed. Replaced and the lower speeds returned. Now the blower doesn't work at all. I read where it may be the blower staring to wear out and causes the resistor to fail. How is the best way to test the blower motor to see if its there or that resister or fan switch?

Thanks!

Re: 93 with blower problems

Best way to test- is to put blower on high- igntion on- and smack the side of the blower motor with a wooden hammer handle-- or simply slam the hood- or hit it with you fist-- if it comes on-- time for a new blower motor!! The armature and brushes wear- armatur goes off center- won't start turning until it is on center- the smack makes it center and start running- I once had a woman smack hers every day for over a year (blower was inside under dash)- until she finally had it changed......

I will try it. I also got the GM manual. I bought the thinkg years ago and forgot I had it. There are a few tests to run but I must admit, I like yours better. It's easy to smack it, if it comes on, I will go buy a new one. Quicker than a test light.

Re: 93 with blower problems

Well,

Your test worked! I smacked the case with my hand and it came on. I will run for bit but I have read that over time it will cause the resistor to fail. I have seen the for around 40 bucks for the AC Delco. Will dig my service manual out and see how much of a pain it is to replace the thing.

Thanks!
