91 Cherokee Trans problem or electrical???

Back again... No one figured out the prob. with my 95... here's another one: My other vehicle is a 91 Cherokee. At 45mph, (just when it should go into OD, I get a loud thump/bang from the drivetrain. The tach does not drop rpm's, so I assume it did not go into OD. Trans fluid is clean, shift points are right on time and there's no slipping. Mounts are good, all "u" joints OK as well.
I'm thinking converter but, I know that the trans is electrically controlled. Could this have some part in the problem? I also read that the ABS system is tied into the controller. The ABS light is on, but I kind of think that's something to do with the pump, and perhaps a seperate problem altogether.
Any smart jeep guys out there???
