Accidently Added Tans Fluid to Brake Fluid- What should I do?

I made the mistake of adding transmission fluid to my brake fluid. I noticed the difference in colors right away and stopped immediately, so in all about 2 table spoons were added. Luckily the tans fluid was lighter than the brake fluid. I go a surenge and some tubing and was able to extract about 95% or more of what I had put in there since it stayed on top of the brake fluid. However, there is some residue left inside the brake fluid container that I cannot remove. I extracted as much of the brake fluid as possible and then put new in. I did notice that there were still some "bubbles" of red trans about the size of a flea-- but like I said 95% or more of it is out.

Is this something that I should be serious concerned about. I am guessing that there is at most 1/4 teaspon left in there but probably much less. I am also guessing that since the trans is lighter than the brake (they are like oil and water) that the trans will stay on top and never enter the braking system as long as I keep it full. But I thought I would ask people's opinions anyway. Please let me know what I should do since I have no idea what the consequences of this will be, if any. Oh and fell free to make fun of me, it was stupid.

Get all the ATF and as much of the brake fluid as possible out of the master cylinder reservoir and then refill it. The brake fluid in the reservoir has been contaminated and may be dangerous to use. Try using cotton swabs to absorb the remaining ATF. If you drain the brake fluid with a syringe or turkey baster or whatever, wipe out the inside of the reservoir with whatever will reach inside, paper towels, cotton swabs, etc.

It may be a good time to flush your whole braking system. There is no percentage in taking chances with your brakes.

Thanks for the reply. I am considering just having both the ATF and Braking systems flushed. I hope its not too expensive!!!

Having the brakes flushed will not clean the ATF out of your master cylinder reservoir. You will have to do that independently.
