1999 SL Code P 1623

Just bought the car and the code came up, Code # P 1623 Transaxle Temp Pull-up Resistor. Can anybody tell me what this is and what to do to fix it.

DTC P1623 Transmission Temp Pull-Up Resistor

auto or manual?

Start off by changing the Engine Coolant Temperture Sensor. its about 17.50 at the dealer.

ECTS is made of resin. coolant eats through the resin and sends false signals to the PCM. the newer one is brass tipped and will last the lifetime of the car. the ECTS is VITAL to fuel management, shift points, engine heating, TC lockup, etc. however 9/10 it will NOT through a code specific to itself. all pre 2001 came with the resin tipped sensor and are the causes of many problems. change it out asap
