cracked oil housing-

hey ev1 i was wonderin if i could get some opinions on my situation- a week ago my oil housing cracked n all the oil leaked out of course n i didnt know what was goin on n the car was makin a weird noise n then it jus died cuz obviously there was no oil left in the engine so i blew it-
now...i have warranty on the car still but mazda is tellin me they're not gonna cover it cuz its not a car deffect, n that whoever did the last oil change is responsible for the damage cuz they tightened the oil filter into the housing too tight. so are they right or are they just tryin to get out of it?
cuz i was lookin in some websites n a lot of ppl have had problems with the housing crackin cuz i guess its made of plastic or somethin, i dont know- n someone said that mazda knows about this problem so they added it to their warranty some time ago- so i dont know what to believe or what to do about the car-
help anyone???
thanks!

Re: cracked oil housing-

If you are under warrantee, I would take it back to the deeler, park it in front of there maintenance bay door and pull the keys.
If it is on the engine, warantee should cover that.

Re: cracked oil housing-

Hi, i am from Puerto Rico and i work for Mazda dealer, sorry for this but here in PR we do not give warranty for that because it could be the over thignt or receive a hit by a rock or those yellow thing in the parkings. I suggest you to go to your ensurance company it's the only way i repair those engines. So don't loose your time trying to get warranty you only get the expenses of the towing!

the dealer is paying for towing so i dont have to worry about that- and it should be covered by the warranty cuz the motor blew and thats the type thing the warranty covers- why would they offer a warranty that only covers specific problems, it should cover everything under the hood no matter what. the dealer or mazda have no proof of how exactly the oil housing cracked- they're just assuming is was over tightening the filter into the oil housing.

Re: cracked oil housing-

I work for Mazda Im in my 2nd year apprenticeship and see 1 blown motor a week from a jiffy lube or independant shop that used the wrong type of oil filter removal tool or over tighting of the plastic housing will crack it. You really cant do anything to get Mazda to pay for a motor.

Good luck with that if you have any question on your mazda feel free to hit me up @ http://estovideorepairs.blogspot.com/

Re: cracked oil housing-

Whoever changed your oil is responsible. The reason the engine locked up is because whoever changed your oil cracked the filter housing, Mazda is not at fault. Mazda covers defects not related to damage or misuse.
