2000 Alero shut off and won't start

My sister in law called me a few days ago and said her 2000 Alero 4 cyl died as she turned into her condo driveway. Yesterday, she said it started up fine after just sitting there for days and then it died after a minute. She told me this over the phone........i have not experienced this in person.
I'm thinking it might be a bad alternator and it's sucking the battery and then it dies. I have not looked at it yet but from what I read so far in this forum, i'm thinking I might be on to something.
I'll keep the list posted after I look at it.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'll take my voltmeter and my jumper cables and go look at it probably Thursday after work.

Thanks
Darren.

Re: 2000 Alero shut off and won't start

There could be a lot of reasons, in my case the car would start and die out right away or just crank, but not start. The reason for that was faulty passlock sensor inside the ignition lock tumbler.
