Safe to tow with bumper?
Hello,
I see that the bumper on my Blazer is rated up to 350 lbs tongue weight and 3500 lbs trailer weight. Does anyone here use their bumper to tow light loads. I just have a motorcyle trailer that I tow every now and then. I noticed that most of the class III trailer hitches sold out there for blazers have the same rating. So what would be the advantage of buying one? thanks, Bobby |

i know that my blazer doesnt have a trailer hitch and because of that i dont tow anything. i wouldnt use the bumper to pull any kind of load. thats just me though. If I were to get a trailer hitch, I would get something that attaches to the frame. If you tow anything that's where you would want the load to be, not on the bumper.

There is no problem in towing with your bumper GM made them to be able to do it so go ahead! As for the frame mounted hitch it is abit sounder then just the bumper but they both will get the job done.

Thanks for the replies!
Flatrater, I have had no problems towing with the bumper so far. I tow a small motorcycle trailer for now and it does so with ease. Thanks, Bobby |
