Im having a few electrical problems, mainly in the interior
short story... do not work: guages.. speed, gas, temp, rpms, oil pressure, ect radio odometer interior lights keyless entry do work: cigarette light dash lights and some dummie lights all exterior lights work fine hvac works windows door locks only from inside (keyless doesnt work) Im pretty sure thats all that ive notice. now here is the weird thing... this will happen more often than as if it were normal. for instance, today they worked all day long until later on. they shut off and have not been on since. ive checked cps (disconnected) and all fuses. ive left battery unplugged and checked grounds. now tomorrow it will probably come on once or twice only for a minute or two then shut off again. im leaning towards the bcm but thought i would get some more advice before i spend the dough. |

Re: Electrical help please
Likely a loose feed wire to the stuff that dosent work. Check the back of the fuse block for a corroded connection. Check power wire at both ends (in car and in engine bay) could be a partially blown fusable link or bad connection. Definitely not a short or stuff would be melting. Always look for the easy stuff first. With all the electronics in vehicles, its far too often that they get blamed for stuff. Get a decent wiring diagram if you can't find the problem quickly. Use it as a map so you don't get lost.

Re: Electrical help please
ive checked almost everything i could think of. Fuse box in the engine bay, fuse box inside the cab, wires, ect. Ive tried jiggle stuff around when its off and nothing seems to fix it. I may however replace the ground from the block to the firewall and see if that helps. But I know for sure its not a fuse, and a loose wire kind of makes since but it doesnt act like a loose wire.
The reason why i think its none of those is because it goes off and it will stay off for a while and then it will come back on for about 5 minutes, then it will shut of for a few days, then it will come back on for a day, then it will shut off for half a day and then come back on. now it does this a random times. the jeep could be sitting there (not moving) and it will shut off and then come back on then shut off again, which makes me think that its not a loose wire. I was told by a mechanic that more than likely, that when all that stuff goes off at the same time its a body control module |

Check out that link it gives you a full wiring schematic of the 2000 cherokee and will give you a good place to start. Since it's intermittent I would check the fuses and make sure that the metal contacts inside aren't loose causing it to disconnect randomly and also check the wires to make sure that none of the insulation is damaged or cut causing it to possibly ground out on the chassis somewhere. |

Re: Electrical help please
I still didn't hear if there is power at the center of the lighter when power is "out" . If there is power, check the ground. If not, trace back that wire to its source... Likely, everything else stems off the same supply.
