Re: need speed!

you can find all kinds of performance parts at www.mantapart.com - granted, some of the stuff is a little outta hand (they sell plenty of strictly race application parts) but overall they have a LOT of info mainly about the quad 4's

Re: need speed!

That site seams to be all about racing performance, I didnt see anything that was realy usefull for street.

If you want speed thier's a few thing you should consider before , like the proper tires Z rated or better, better brakes, if you go fast you also need to be able to stop as quick, that's just common sense .

See this thread for MOD Parts>
OEM, Performance Parts Sources!

And welcome to AF grandam98.

Re: need speed!

thats built into the computer. you could get an aftermarket engine management system, but those arent really all that cost friendly.

Re: need speed!

yeah thier's not any reason to go faster then 105mph, you'll definalty loose your license for that one if not go to kail.

Oh I just noticed you have a 98, you might not be able to find any performance PCM's....... thier used to be HP tuner for these, try googlin it.

Re: need speed!

Its called the governor, It's limited by the car's main processing unit and/or in this case, your PCM as it is called.

And as Xero stated, make sure you have precaution if you choose to go faster than 80mph. GOOD tires (z rated or better), and upgraded brakes (pads, rotors, calipers). I would add onto that list if you're not going in just a straight line to also include suspension onto the list. Lowering improves the center gravity of the car meaning you're less likely to lose control at high speeds. Ive been over 130mph in my 99 Grand am, And I've only done it once... Being that, I still have stock suspension, stock brakes & just 'ok' highway tires... nowhere near z rated in safety. Sure it's fun, but it's not fun if your car is starting to lift off of the ground, you have to know that when going faster your tire has less of a surface area connected to the ground because the wheel is spinning much faster. This creates a lift off feeling of your car, any sudden movement would surely throw your car into a roll with out a doubt.
