Re: swap a 2001 2.7l to a 2004 2.7l NGC
I have a 2001 Sebring and have a 2.7L with valve train clatter. The engine has 140K miles. I can get a 2005 engine with similar VIN -R instead of the -U in the 7th digit. It appears that the flywheel, intake and exhaust are recommended items to swap over to the newer engine.
I have the same question about the engine computer. Is the computer compatible? Is the wiring harness compatible from 2001 to 2005? |

you have to change all of that and the cam gears ring under the valve cover and use the 01 engine harness. you also have to change the knok sensor

Re: swap a 2001 2.7l to a 2004 2.7l NGC
Ditto: I just posted a question on engine swapping from a 2001 to a 2005 with an "R" in the VIN number. I am anticipating needing to swap out the intake and exhaust as well as the flywheel. Also, the wiring harness will need to be taken from the 2001. I don't understand why I would need the 2005 engine computer then. Is that true?
