Official World Record - Chevrolet

In case you missed it, it's finally official.

The de-stroked LS7 is the fastest production car engine in the world:

And it only needs to spin at 7,200 to get it done. It gets by on only 8 cylinders, whereas the slower cars use 12. It breathes on one central camshaft, instead of four or more scattered all over the engine. And it isn't a lot different than a stock LS7 under the heads and intake.

Better yet, it's not all about speed. It out-handles most of the slower cars on the way to passing them. And if the speed starts to become threatened, there's about 20MPH more just waiting to be unleashed.

I guess I'm preaching to the choir, but it's obvious that a have dozen camshafts, more valves than liters, and enough boxes of chain to haul an elevator car to the top of the Space Needle don't equal speed or performance. Give me big bores and pushrods, and I'll give back a friendly wave as I drive by. It's the American Way.
