head ?????

SO I was looking up casting numbers for cylinder heads and I found this http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=786093

The 1990 d15b1 has the same casting number as a 1995 d15b7.
Anyone have any answers to this????? Is the cam size the same??????

Re: head ?????

If the head casting is the same..then its the same head, minus the cam. They are identical if your were to strip them down to nothing. However, the parts that used to assemble the head may be different.

Re: head ?????

80% of D-series castings are the same, lacking the D17, Vtec vs. Non-Vtec, and the DOHC heads.

The cams have nothing to do w/ the head casting numbers, they have their own part numbers.

For instance, the Si cam and the D15B2 cam are different by 6* or so, yet the head castings are exactly the same.

Re: head ?????

yep, sorry about that, but you'll see it alot on forums, since the actual degree sign is [ALT+0176] which doesn't work in [IMG] coding.. which is what most forums are done with.
