new issue w/ heater/defrost

it only blows sort-of warm air and after a while, it dies down to nothing. it SOUNDS like its blowing, but no air comes out. ive also noticed that my temp gauge never moves. always stays at 100. shouldn't it move up to 210? the same thing happened in summer with the a/c. took it to a shop, paid $200 for a cap thing and a switch. worked good for half a day then back to normal. dont wanna take it to a shop again and get reamed and pay $800 for something i may be able to do myself for cheap.

What year Bravada? OK a 2000 Bravada..
Does it have Climate Control?

After making sure the radiator and coolant jug is full then driving a bit with no improvement, you can replace the thermostat to get the operating temperature up to 190-200F but it may take 10 to 15 minutes driving time in Minnesota this time of year.
