Assistant Greenskeeper?
![]() I always wanted to work at a golfcourse, but mostly so I could play for cheap. I'm sure there are some other perks that one might not normally think of though... I know a couple guys who work in pro-shops, build clubs and such but not much real wrenching. Also know a guy who does robotic club testing for Cleveland, talk about a cool job. |

Re: Anyone work as a tech. at a golf course?
Yes it is seasonal, and that is good and bad.
I guess I was woundering how many people worked at a course because here about a 1 1/2 yrs ago an orginazation was formed called the. ( International Golf Course Equipmant Managers Association ) www.IGCEMA.org . and within that group is (golftechs) www.golftechs.net . Anyone involved with the golf industry would be interested in this. The IGCEMA and Golftechs are groups from all over the world dedicated to the education of golfcourse tech's., Supers, assistants, and the pro shops are very interested in what is happening there. With our forums We offer FREE education by web-casts. And, if another tech. or super / assistant runs into a situation where others advice is needed, We have the answers. tips, tricks, and down right free step by step assistance is at your fingertips. Sponsored by the big three, Toro, John Deere, Jacobson and many more, We are growing at a very impressive rate. The techs. involved will willingly help anyone with course related issues. I would encourage you to tell everyone you know that works at a course to check it out . Tell your course tech and give him the above addresses. Mabey he would have expereance doing a difficult repair and be able to share infromation or learn from what these guys have to offer. The only thing for me is the lay-off. It is too bad our course didnt have something to offer for the public in the winter whitch in turn might keep me working year round. All I do is keep the mowing fleet up and running, sharpen the reels, now thats a blast, and we have a cart barn and a guy that keeps them clean. Water in the batts., one grease fitting and air in the tires. I do work out of my garage, mostly on snow removal equipment. Alot of welding and hydraulics repairs. |
