Unhappy Major problems with my 89 cavy z24!!! help!

well me and my dad was out driving around and all of a sudden we felt a big jerk and then it died and we rolled to the stop light and dad kept trying to start it but when he put it in gear it'd die and then he ran into gas station and got some Heet and put in it..thinking maybe bad gas...didnt help much if at all..then i got out and pushed it to a start while he put in into gear then jumped in and we came home and ran some stop signs (after making sure it was clear of course:P) and luckily timed the two stop lights just right and didn't have to stop or it would of died and be stuck again. It jerks really bad when changing gears(its automatic transmission), My dad thinks it's the torge converter but i have no idea..

any mechanics or anyone plz help!

Thanx

Sounds like the TCC solenoid. It is not that expensive to fix depending on your engine and trans combo, if you do it yourself you will spend about a 100.00 dollars or less.

Call a GM dealer and get the tcc solenoid and a side cover gasket, some people replace the 2nd gear switch while they are at it but its up to you.

I think the part numbers depending on your trans are 8689901 for the tcc solenoid and 8678169 for the side cover gasket. The dealer will know what you are talking about and be able to give you the correct part numbers for your application.

Don't quote me on those numbers though. I sell tons of em though. I have worked at a GM dealer for the past 10 years.

BTW this is a very common problem.

Well of course I know where worlds of fun is, who could forget the zambini zinger, or the orient express. LOL

I lived out in the boondocks off of cookingham drive east of the airport, can't think of the name of the town though for the life of me.

Worked in Parkville though. I have lived so many different places in Kansas it ain't even funny, Topeka, Humboldt, Emporia, Osage City, Wichita.

Dammit what the hell is the name of that town, all there is there is a gas station and some overzealous cops???? It is right of of 435 and cookingham drive where the KCI Airport is just miles from WOF.

Oh well right know I live In Peoria Arizona.

To make sure that it's the tcc solenoid disconnect it first. If that doesn't fix the prob then that's not it...

you was right John, it was the TCC thingymajigger... got the car back today from the shop and on the paper thingy it says they put in new torque converter and TCC solenoid and a few other lil things like put in new trans fluid etc and on the paper one of the recommendations is to have the transmission overhauled but dad didn't wanna do that cuz it would cost alot mroe then it already did and prolly won't have the car much longer cuz it'd getting really high mileage so prolly gonna trade it in soon..year or so, if even.

speaking of Worlds of Fun i just filled out an application to work there gotta take it back and get interviewed.
