emerg brake lite and bat light on

I have seen several post on this issue, but I have repalced the alternator twice from autozone , tested under a load and over 14.4v. all passed

When the car is first started and the parking brake is on. the fan blower motor will not turn on until I release the parking brake. WHen I drive the car both battery and emerg brake lights are on. However only half the illumination brightness. the brake lite has full brigtness until I release the brake.

What is the connection with the blower motor? and

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

To me it still points to the Alternator...sorry, but just because it's putting out the 14v doesn't mean it's putting it out constantly. It could have an intermittent issue and the truck *knows* it...these trucks are very picky and I'm actually surprised it's even running with an Autozone alternator.

The blower motor not working, and the two dash lights you are listing are the clues of a weak alt, eventually your stereo won't work, tranny will shift rough if you have the auto.

Just speaking from my own experience.

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

yeah I wouldnt run an autozone alt.

Bosch, OEM, or from some serches I've heard of good results of people using NAPA brand. but if I replaced mine it'd be OEM or Bosch.

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

I agree with alternator. Those are classic signs of a bad one. Dont use box store house brand alternators, these trucks dont like them. Its also possible to get several bad alternators and starters brand new from box stores. Been there done that.

Also check and clean all your ground connections and battery terminals.

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

My alt went bad. I tried an Advance Auto alt. It didn't work. I got a new alt from NAPA the next day. It has been good for nearly 3 years now.

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

WOW it was the alternator from AUTOZONE.

you guys are right. I went to NAPA and got the new one from them for $230.00 put it on and all the lights went out.

I went through three Autozone remans. and of course Autozone said they were good. Now I have to see how I can return the lifetime ones back.

Thanks for your help

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

I took mine back and they refunded the money without question. This happens quite often and I can't see them giving you a hassle. Good luck!

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

Glad its working for you now. I had a lot of trouble with starters from auto zone for my neices car. Woulnt work in the car but worked on their test bench. The guy wouldnt exchange it since it worked there. Had to get him to come out to the parking lot with me, hooked up jumper cables and a peice of wire to the starter and show him that it wouldnt turn with a 750 amp battery (their test bench puts out over 1000 amps). Tried several others with the same result, finally the last one they had worked.

Re: emerg brake lite and bat light on

I just don't understand this issue with Rodeos being 'picky' about alternators. Volts are volts, amps are amps and alternator components all come from the same manufacturer. There just shouldn't be any difference.
